Sears replaced the control board at their expense on a recall about three years ago. This was to upgrade their control board which had problems with the balance during spin cycles. It worked better until recently and now the washer gets terribly out of balance. Even if the clothes (usually towels) are repositioned, the washer must be drained and re-started to finally get it back in balance. Does it sound like another control board problem again?

The balance/suspension springs were replaced by Sears. I bought their $214.99 one year all inclusive repair package. It covers any subsequent repairs required during the contract period. The cost of the parts/labor for the spring replacement was $205.00, so it cost me an extra 10.00. The technician said this is a common problem in this washer and Kenmore upgraded the spring to a much heavier spring. It made all the difference. So now I wait and see if something else happens over the next year. For what it's worth, the technician said his repair calls numbered nearly 10 calls for front loader repair vs. 1 for top loader. He would not buy a front loader of any brand himself. What does that tell you
