Model Number: gltf2940es0 Brand: Frigidaire Age: 5 - 10 years
We had a guest using our machine while we were away over the weekend, and I come home to find that the last load in the wash is drenched. Guest didn't notice any problems with the load she ran. <shrug> So, I try to run a drain/spin and here's what it sounds like:
Washer - YouTube I have not tried to run a normal cycle, as I'm afraid of it filling and maybe not draining (since it won't even drain/spin alone). It sounds like there's a lot going on, but as you can see....nothing is happening. I don't see anything amiss underneath (not that I would know), but thought I'd show it for a few seconds anyways. Is this a telltale noise and/or symptom? Thanks in advance. Ads By Google Related Models |

Sounds like the unit was overloading and it strained the pulley/bearing system behind the drum. If a unit does not spin it is because of a broken belt, or it cannot drain. It will not spin, and sling water everywhere, if it cannot drain. If it cannot drain the unit shuts itself down, often displays an error code. Try to make sure the drain pump and drain lines are not clogged. Then try to load the machine with lighter clothes, or half the load and retry the unit.

Got to the step on the dial turn that should've caused it to drain. What actually happened was that it did not drain, rather it made that noise in the video above. At the end of the diagnostic, I got E23. From some searching, I see that per the manual - that means replace control board. But I think I'll take your advice first Chris, and check the drain pump and lines to be sure they're not clogged. Just need to get this water out first....
Thanks in advance. |

Ok, so please refer to the video in the OP to remind yourself what it sounds like to have a baby sock stuck in the impeller of your drain pump :-)
![]() ![]() Case closed! Glad to not be needing a control board, or even a new pump. Passed the diagnostic just fine without any socks stuck in there. Thanks for the help Chris. |

Congrats! Sometimes it takes a little investigative work to get to the bottom of the issue. I have unclogged many socks and little hand towel pieces from my drain pipes and hose. I tend to check it out every 3-4 months to be safe, whether the unit shows signs of clogs or not. Stay in touch!
