Model Number: WWSE5240G0WW Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
I had a tech come and check my washer because it would not agitate or spin. It was diagnosed as the control board. Well being just a couple of months out warranty, I decided to give GE a call. They are sending out the board free of charge which I'm very happy about. Now the question. can I change this out myself? Is it just a matter of removing the old and plugging the new one in? The service tech want $79 to install, this on top of the $69 service call fee I already paid.

You were absolutely right. This part is not too difficult to replace yourself. Gene.

Gene- I replaced the control board, but it still will not function. I checked the flashing LED on the motor board and it flashes 4 times. According to the code table it says to check the "Mode Shifter Coil". What is this? I cant find any reference to this on the internet. Any help is apperciated. Thanks |

Hi, thank you for viewing. My GE super capacity started making really loud squeek during agitation I called guy out and he said it was the screw that goes to shaft and I would have to replace the nut on the pully. $10 part. but naturallyit is several hours for the call to take the machine apart. I went to GE and there was no part called nut pully. I really need to save$$ and fix myself....I have 5 grandbabies and it is just me. so any advice? thank you

Hi Dee,
There is a part called "pulley nut" but I do not know how it could cause a loud squeak. On other side it is normal to hear metal-to-metal "clunking" sounds at the beginning of the agitation cycle while the motor is in the "Mode Shifter Agitate Program" (about 20 seconds). If the washer is paused while in agitation, it is normal to hear sounds for an additional 30 seconds. - The part number for the pulley nut is AP2045294 (just in case). Gene.
