We've been getting oil spots on our clothes off and on for awhile now, primarily when I do a small load of light colored clothes. Finally had a repair tech come out. He took a look at a few stained clothing items and opened up the machine enough to determine that the transmission needs to be replaced. At the time he told me it would cost $400-500 so it wasn't worth fixing the 5 year old machine. For various reasons, I've decided to try to replace the transmission myself. How do I know what parts I need? Do I need anything besides the transmission? If there's a link to a repair video, that would be very helpful as well.

Thanks!

It is a good idea to replace the clutch and the motor drive coupling at the same time. All parts do have the video instructions so, the repair is not going to be too difficult. You will have to order a spanner wrench for this job.

- The transmission Part number: 3360629
Part number: 3360629

- The clutch assembly Part number: 285785
Part number: 285785

- The motor drive coupling Part number: 285753A

I've replaced the gearcase, coupler and clutch. I haven't used the spanner wrench. Do I need to disassemble something to clean out the oil that leaked from the original transmission?

Remove the inner tub as described in the following movie

and clean the outer and inner tubs.

You will need to use the spanner wrench.

Gene.
