Our Whirlpool top-loader just quit. It'll fill but will perform no other tasks, like its electronics are dead. Per some other posts I checked the lid switch and it seems awfully loose and with no spring tension whatsoever. Just flaps up and down and can feel no indent or click.
Another issue is it'll sometimes fail to spin dry the clothes thoroughly. Already replaced the pump last year. Have always thought the tub seems to be very hard to turn and feels like its riding very heavy on its track.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi, I would remove the lid switch and inspect it. Many times I find the plastic body will crack so the two mounting screws can no longer hold it in the correct position. Your washer uses lid switch Part number: 3949247

Hi,
Thanks for the help. I followed the video and sure enough, the body of the switch had separated. I zip-tied it together and it works ok but now the unit doesn't want to agitate or spin. Motor is running fine and it was working before, although the spin cycle was not always good. Before I buttoned it up I ran it briefly without water just to make sure the switch was working and the drum began turning then but after putting it back in place, no go. Did I disconnect something?
Please advise, thanks.
