I have a hotpoint washer that fills - but then it just sits there. After a little while it hums and then clicks -but never drains or agitates. It has been sitting a while -but it worked a couple of years ago. I recently lost my job -so I don't have money to call out a repair man. Any ideas on what part I might need to look at? Please be patient with me- I am a novice at fourms - and at washer repair.

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your job.

Sounds like the motor is stuck and it's kicking out on the motor overload that is built into it.

I would see if you can turn the belt by hand, maybe the pump is just a little stuck from it sitting.
