Model Number: 82672110 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
have a 70 series kenmore washer, model number 82672110 that does everything right till the rince cycle. it drains the water, motor sounds normal like it's spinning but when you open it nothing is moving so the clothes are still very wet at the end. checked the motor coupling and looks almost new. there is a belt of some sort up underneath behind the motor that is worn, loose and appears to not be connected to anything. is this the problem and how do we fix it. thanks

Since there is no belt on this model, I think what you are seeing is a piece of the motor coupling.
You have to disassmble it to really inspect. I suggest you do this, and if the coupling is bad replace. If not report back what you found and what you think the belt piece was and we will come up with something else.

already did that and the coupler is fine. the belt thing looks like a belt 6 - 8 inches long, maybe it's some kind of gasket or washer of some sort. like i said it's behind the motor up under the the tup part. doesn't appear to actually do anything but it is rather tattered looking. so if it's not the coupler what else can i check? switch is fine also

Take off the motor, leaving on the wire connection and see if the transmission will turn in a clockwise direction. Also, very briefly plug in the machine and see if the motor runs when it is in spin mode.
If the transmission will turn and the motor runs you probably have a clutch problem. Inspect the drive block on the way to check it as that can be a problem, but is far less likely. If the transmission will not turn you may have a brake problem. See the sticky by richappy at the top of this Forum. It is very good and very useful. I don't know what that piece is that you found.
