Timer running crazy!!

Model Number: wsxh208 a1ww Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years

The timer on the machine works like this:
fills the machine
ticks thru the wash cycle fast ( 10 seconds)
empties the machine
timer speeds to stop and shuts off

The machine had a bucket of water spilled on the top....
