We have a Whirlpool GSQ9632LWO bought in 2002. Great machine, but about a year ago it started having a problem spinning. It made all the gear and motor noises like it was spinning, and was draining water, but clearly wasn't actually spinning.
We had a repairman come out twice, but at the time it was just happening sporadically. Of course, it wouldn't do it while he was here. Now it does it almost every wash.
During it's supposed spin cycle, you can hear the sounds of spinning. But lift the lid a bit and peek inside and it's not moving. Sometimes opening and closing the lid gets it to spin, and sometimes rotating the drum gets it to spin.
Does this sound like the transmission?
Thanks, Scott

Hi Scott It really sounds like the clutch Part number: AP3094537
and the repair tech should have known that. Change it out and see if that doesn't fix things. Check the brakes for dragging while you are in there.
