Kenmore Oasis 28032/Whirlpool WTW6200S warm water temp
Model Number: 28032 Oasis Brand: Kenmore Age: Less than 1 year
I have a new Kenmore Oasis 28032 washer which is similar to the Whirlpool WTW6200S. This is the top loader Oasis series with the large capacity (3.8cf) drum and an agitator. The problem is that warm wash is not always warm.
The water temp choices are hot/cold, warm/warm, warm/cold, cool/cold, cold/cold (wash/rinse). There are 7 cycles which have fixed agitate/spin speeds, and in some cases - restricted choices on the available water temp choices. On my machine, warm wash is not the same temp depending on the cycle - even though the temp selctions are the same on the options button/lights. ex: When whitest whites cycle is chosen, you get 95 F for the warm wash which is the average of my cold (73F) and hot (115F) water sources. A 50/50 mix and a logical temperature. That's perfect except that the agitation speed on whitest whites is extremely fast and rough on clothes. When you pick other cycles like Casual or Dark Colors (which have slower and more gentle agitaion and/or spin speeds), and select the same warm wash temp, the wash temp is equal to my incomming cold water source (with verification that plenty of hot water exists). It is consistently that way after many loads. As a matter of fact, very few cycles actually produce a 95F warm wash water temp. Ironically, some of the cycles that produce a 75F warm wash temp instead of 95F, allow hot and produce it at 100% hot water input (115F).
Is this the intended function or is my machine malfunctioning?
On the assumption that this is a result of the Jan 2007 mandates and the energy star rating - is there an elegant (programming change) or brute force (wiring mod) over ride/work around for this issue? I would like to wash loads at medium agitation speed, high spin speed, but a real warm (95F) wash water temp.
Thanks,
George
