My kenmore (Sears?) developed a sudden leak last week. Upon examination, I saw that water was leaking only when the washer is spinning and a small amount of water is sprayed into the tub as it is spinning. This water is only running maybe 3 or 4 seconds. When it stops the leak stops. I have had the washer on its back and can see no loose or bad hoses. Any ideas?

The only way to find this kind of leak is to operate it with the cabinet off.
Use a jumper to by-pass the lid switch. The pump is the most likely culprit on these models, but it can be an internal hose.
