My washer just started to stall when it reaches the point where it should drain the tub after the rinse cycle. That is, the dial advances to the asterisk marker (rinse & spin) and the tub fills. There's some agitation and the dial starts to advance to the diamond marker (spin only). There's a click sound which I assume is the point where the tub should drain. After that, nothing happens. I let the washer sit for a half hour without the dial advancing or the tub draining.

However, if I give the washer a healthy whack on the same side as the dial, the tub starts draining. and most times completes through the spin only cycle. Other times, I give the washer a whack, it drains for a few seconds, then stops, I give it another whack, it drains for a few seconds, then stops, and so on. Eventually, the dial advances to a point where the washer drains completely, and continues on through the final spin cycle.
