the machine used to be almost silent when aggitating, now is making alot of noise but apears to be working properly(can lift the lid and watch tub move bach and forth). Not covered by warrenty because we use for our motel laundry- not in constant use, would be about an average of one load a day. Any ideas on what is causing the noise? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hard to say without being there to observe (noises are like that). This is a very troubled model and I would just go ahead and use it, and when it no longer works replace it with a basic direct drive top load Whirlpool machine. It will do a lot better job for your situation.
