Model Number: 25842400 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
my washer has filled up full, but will do nothing else. There is no hum like its getting power. There is just nothing. Could it be the switch?

Well, assuming this is a standard top loading direct drive washer the likely culprits are the lid switch or the motor coupling.
Take off the console by taking out the two screws that hold it to the top and flip it back. You will see a plastic coupling. Take it apart and insert the bare ends of an insulated solid copper wire into the outer holes of the part coming from the console. This will by-pass the lid switch. If the machine works, replace the lid switch. If not, go ahead and inspect the coupling. Good luck.
