I recently replaced the locking mechanism in the door when it broke. the washer had went off balance and i pulled the door open and it broke. i fixed it. then today it went off balane again and the door opened. i don't think its broke i think something told it to open and now it wont let it latch again. what do i do. is there some kind of reset for this problem? Should I have done something else when i replaced the part like replace the balancing mechanism.? Lauri:confused:

I cannot get your model number to come up to see exactly what machine you have. Can you check it and repost? Is this a US model?
Thanks

Hi Lauri Sounds like you may have several problems here. Not unusual with this machine, it is a great washer when it works correctly, but when it doesn't, well, you already know what that is like. First, take off the back and top and observe the four shock absorbers that control most of the balance. You are looking for a broken one. I would take them off and examine them closely. Here is the service manual which will show you how to do that. https://secured.whirlpoo...ILE/Duet%20Job%20Aid.pdfSecond, unplug the machine and see if that clear's the problem with the door lock. If not, go into the diagnostic/trouble shooting mode to see if you can determine what is wrong with your door lock assembly. This is another weak spot on these machines. I hate to tell you this but some times the door lock assembly and control board fail together. Good luck.
