Model Number: Mah9700aww Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a Neptune washer that gives me a 3E error code and stops in the middle of a cycle. When I try to restart the washer I can hear the something "click" inside and it stops again. What do I need to replace?

Hi.
Generally the 3E code means bad HALL sensor or wiring harness to the control board. Read the attached file. The sensor and motor assembly part number is AP4211146. . The internet store shows we're out of stock but we should have 4. Talk to our rep at the call center. Please post results.

I checked the connections and they seem to be fine. The washer always seems to stop and throw the code at the end of the rinse cycle when it is trying to start the spin cycle. How do I know if I need a new wiring harness?

Hello, Firepike 24.
If you pulled off and reconnected all the wires and plugs at the motor sensor and control board and the washer still gives you 3E code most likely you looking at replacing the motor and sensor assembly. The motor Part number: AP4044223 Remember, that you can always return any unused parts purchased from APP even if they have been installed. Good luck and keep us posted.

Error code 3E is Over current detected in motor. These units have had issues with leaks causing water to get onto electrical components, this could have caused an issue with motor, or wiring connections to it, or speed sensor. Check the area for moisture. Also check the motor windings, speed sensor, wiring connections also, and it can sometimes be the control board if these all test good. good luck, you can find the tests for the motor windings, speed sensor and such on the tech manual inside of unit, behind the control panel or on back of unit in flat plastic bag. If there was water in the motor and speed sensor area, then the over current could have been caused by water... seek the source of the leak, remedy it, then use a blow dryer on medium heat, to dry electrical connections, but be careful to not get anything too hot. Hello.
Here are the instructions: Unplug the washer. Remove the back cover. Remove the vent hose on either side. Rotate the spinner to locate the slot. Insert the rubber handled tool or object to lock the spinner. Remove the 19mm motor nut. Grasp the rotor on the sides and pull it from the shaft. Remove motor wiring connectors. Remove six 10mmbolts holding stator coil. There are alignment pins for the stator re-installation. Reinstall everything in reverse order. Thank you and good luck.
