I know its old but...

The washer does not always spin - it will go through all the other cycles ok ie agitate, fill, drain etc there is a slight burning smell sometimes.

Canadian built Model so there is nothing out there for info. Top Load, Belt Drive otherwise in good shape.

Any help is appreciated.

Ok, assuming this is a basic Top Load GE, I suggest you take off the front panel and operate the machine and see what is going on.

A possible candidate is the clutch, which should be on the motor, but it can also be in the transmission. See if the hang up is with the motor/clutch on at the transmission pulley.

See if you can narrow it down. Good luck
