Brand New Whirlpool Cabrio wtw8800 Leaking from Drum
Model Number: wtw8800yw Brand:
Less than 1 year
Just took delivery of this unit yesterday. Went to run the first load today and got an LF (long fill) error. Looked down and there was water on the floor. Was worried this was some sort of balance issue as I was doing a comforter (which was why I bought the 4.3 cf model to begin with). Cleaned up the floor, reloaded the blanket, repeated, and same result.
Moved the unit out, popped the back cover, and ran the cycle again. Water fills about three inches until it hits what looks like a plastic molding point on the drum. Will attach a picture tomorrow, but looking at the washer from the back, it is on the lower left hand side, just beyond a hose assembly.
There is no visible damage, nor is there a loose hose that would indicate a faulty connection, yet the water just streams out in about a 1/8 inch stream. I can not fathom that this was just some manufacturing defect, and can not believe they do not leak test these things.
Short term - has anyone seen a similar defect / how it was repaired (obviously a warranty defect and I am leaning towards insisting on a replacement)
Long term - have been ignoring what seems to be a lot of negative posts on this series - should I use this as an opportunity to demand a refund instead? I need a good large washer and thought this would be a top of the line experience, and it has so far proven to be anything but!
