Default Washer wont agitate or spin
Brand: Kitchen Aid   Age: 1 - 5 years

The washer fills with water then sits still while it goes through the wash cycle (without agitating) then it will drain and when it gets to the spin cycle it just sits there again. Could it be just a belt or something more expensive like a transmission? Help!!!

Does the motor run?

In order to provide the most accurate advise I need the complete model number of the washer.

Gene.

Of course we'll need the model number to know for sure, but if it's a direct drive model it's probably just the coupler between the motor and transmission that needs replacing. It's an inexpensive part and you can usually tell if that is the problem by tipping the machine up and looking under it. There is usually a small pile of black rubber shavings on the floor under it as well. If you are somewhat handy this is not too difficult a part to replace yourself. As Gene said, the model number will help determine.
