My top loader Kenmore sometimes fails to go through the spin cycle, even though the timer goes on to the end. After opening the lid and seeing it hasn't gone through the spin cycle, I can turn the timer back and it will properly spin...every time. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The timer must pause during the spin cycle to allow the tranny clutch to engage. If no pause, order a new timer AP3114923
|

If no pause, order a new timer AP3114923 There is a pause between the wash and rinse cycles that nothing is moving, but the tub still does not spin during the rinse and spin cycles...unless I open the lid, listen for a click (motor engaging?), and shut the lid back. As I said before, the timer must pause the power to the motor for a few seconds to allow the clutch to engage in the tranny, you have a bad timer.

As I said before, there is a pause in the motor. None the less, I replaced the timer to be sure, and it did NOT fix the problem. The tub will not spin unless I open and shut the lid while the machine is in the rinse/spin cycles. I do not believe it is the lid switch, because I can hear the motor running during this time, it is just not engaging. Any other ideas? Thanks.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. The timer will end the rinse cycle by draining the water, then stop all motion for a few seconds, then power up and spin. It takes several seconds for the slip clutch to drop in the clutch. It could be your tranny is taking longer than normal to engage spin.
