Our washer has served us for more than 10 years. I'd like to know if it is worth repairing. The problem it has is that in the spin cycle it squeals and the agitator won't spin. If this sounds like a broken belt problem would it be less expensive to repair than to replace?

You are in luck. First of all there is no belt on this model, it is direct drive. Second, the problem is likely the agitator dogs, which are about the least expensive part you can have. Part number: AP3119063
No guarantees this is the problem, but it is highly, highly likely. and take off the cabinet and you may find the squeal is just something caught between the tub and basket.
