I have a Maytag washer Model: MAV7600AWW that works great but has an extremely loud clunk followed by a very loud screech sound. Here is a video Maytag Washer clunk sound - YouTube What could this be?

This is probably a brake problem, and you will need to get into it to check them out. You will also need a special brake tool to release the brake spring safely as it is in a compressed state and dangerous.
