This washer makes a clanking or thumping sound whenever it speeds up in spin cycle no matter if there is clothes or no clothes in it. It sounds like it is coming from the drum somewhere. A serviceman came and looked at it and right away thought it was the rear bearing which was going to be $500 so he went ahead and replaced that but it didnt fix the problem so he came back and looked at it again and said it was one of the shocks so he put in 2 new shocks and said there would be no charge either he broke them putting in the bearing or he felt bad for us. This didnt fix the problem either. I cleaned out the drain deal and found nothing this has made this noise for about as long as we remember but kept getting worse in time. I had front cover off and top and doesnt sound like coming from drain pump or electric motor sounds like the inside drum itself but when he replaced rear bearing and had to change the whole rear drum I thought that would have eliminated that. There was a ding in the back panel that I popped back out with hammer but didnt notice it rubbing anywhere. Everything that I can see looks good. One other guys email u got sounded like the same situation and he ended up getting new washer and later on found out it was a coupler between motor and transmission but a couldn't find coupler on parts list but it was a different model. Anything you can think of that might help us out would be greatly appreciated we dont really want to junk it with it being only 2 years old and a $1200 unit. That serviceman said I would start looking 4 a new washer it works good though just loud when starts 2 spin fast which cant be good. If we need a new one we would like 2 hear an opinion on what to get we have a bad taste for front load but would like to still get somethin efficient maybe top load. Thanks for your time.

If you have paid $500 for a repair you need to get the repair service back out there and fix it at no charge. If they will not cooperate call the BBB, and every consumer protection in your area. You paid big bucks for a repair, get it.

The buisness I bought the washer from covered the first bill $500 and the serviceman said that the bearing was bad even though it didn't fix the noise. The second thing he did was the two shocks and he told me that it was covered I'm guessing he paid for it since I still have the problem. So atleast I haven't had to pay anything yet the only problem is that I'm still stuck with a loud washer. The guy said he gives up and to shop for a new one. The noise is coming from the back part of drum somewhere. Nobody else around here works on front loads except for a place 60 miles away and they charge flat rate of $60 plus 1.50 per mile just to come and check it out or I can load it up and haul it there for $30 plus whatever it takes to fix it which probably isn't goin to be cheap. I'm pretty handy and would love to figure out the actual problem causing it but don't know if it's worth it or not. Our local appliance store is Western Auto and he would give me a loaner or sell me a new one for his cost he suggested cabrio cause he sells just whirlpool but I'm kinda sour on that brand. Especially when this one was so expensive. The store 60 miles away would delivery a new one and maybe give me somethin for this one depending on what they find with it. Then I could get a different brand. The problem is I haven't found hardly any with much for positive reviews. Any info or advice would be great thanks.

I still think the original repair person owes you a repair, it doesn't matter whether you or the dealer paid for it.

If you cannot get that serviceman to fix it for no cost then I would consider replacing it. For about $300 to $350 in our area you can get a good basic Whirlpool top loader, probably less if your local dealer will sell you one at cost.

I don't even have access to a service manual for your model, and the repair of the rear drum and the supports is what a good service person would do, so it may be the repair was bad, something was broken during the repair, or who knows.

Sometimes starting over is the best strategy.
