my maytag washer will stop during cycles. Timer does not advance during the time it is off. if you move the timer to a different cycle it still doesnt come on. while off you here the motor trying to start about every 10 min but does not. eventally comes back on but takes aboutr two hours to complete load

Sounds like the motor has gone bad. For more accurate advise we need the complete model number of the washer.
