Maytag washer Model Number MAV6000AWW
Problem: Filling and agitation are fine. After rinsing, most water is drained out, but clothes are very wet after spin cycle. After replacing new pump and new belt, the problem was the same.
I bought the Serve Manual, and followed every item under Clothes Wet After Spin. After excluding the possibilities of unbalanced load, slipping belt, pump obstruction, drain hose restriction, and drain plumbing restriction, I checked the reference marks on drive pulley and cams. I tried every possibility, adding one, two, and three thrust washers, starting at marks of 4, 6, and 9, but did not see any improvement. Then I tried to check for partial engagement of brake assembly, because I do feel the spin speed is not as fast as before. But I do not know how to do torque testing. The Service Manual said, Place a 1/2 inch socket and torque wrench on the agitator retaining bolt. Depress the safety spin switch to allow the washer to operate in the spin cycle, then while reading the torque allow the wrench to turn slowly (6 RPM) through a complete 360 degree cycle, the reading should be between 18 and 25 inch pounds. (1) I could not find the agitator retaining bolt. There is an agitator retaining screw under the plastic agitator base. I may use a wrench to tighten or loose it, but no way to turn it a 360 degree cycle. (2) I could not find the safety spin switch to depress it to allow the washer to operate in the spin cycle. Is it on the control panel? If I turn the timer knob to spin location, when the lid is open, the agitator will not spin, and the agitator retaining screw but I cannot turn it with wrench; If the lid is close, the agitator will spin, but the screw is not accessible. What should I do? Pleas advise me. Thank you very much. Adam
