Default Kenmore washer has broken plastic piece
Model Number: 110.81950100   Brand: Kenmore   Age: More than 10 years

I have a kenmore washer that has the plastic piece between the motor and the transmission broke. It wasn't hard to find because it was on the floor when I moved the washer. The thing that bothers me is the part was there and a bunch of plastic shavings. Is there a problem that caused this part to break or do they just break over time. Also I can't find my model number on this site. I am guessing it is because the washer is probably over 15 years old.

I found the part that I needed on this site by looking up the part number. If this part is broke will it keep the washer from draining? Or is the pump bad?

Hi Jordan,

The broken plastic part you found under the washer is the motor drive coupling. It connects the motor to the transmission and breaks over a time. It will affect the agitation and the spin, but not the drain.

If the washer is not draining but the motor is running, then it could be clog some where (the hoses or the pump itself) or the pump is bad.

If the motor does not run when it comes to drain, then it could be the lid switch.

- The part number for the motor drive coupling is AP3963893

- The part number for the pump is AP2907492

- The part number for the lid switch is AP3094142

Good luck.
Gene.
