Model Number: 110.20412990 Brand: Kenmore Age: More than 10 years
My wife stopped the cycle in the middle of a wash last night and forgot about it. She assumed it was finished when she asked our young daughter (7 years old) to move the clothes over to the dryer. Never having done this before our daughter approaches the washing machine and sees the clothes in the water still but chooses to place them in the dryer.
Obviously we find out so we start moving the clothes back to the washing machine and proceed to start the wash but the knob had been turned and moved as she was playing with it to start back up. Now we have a washing machine full of clothes and water and we cannot get the machine to do anything. It starts out like it's trying to work and then we hear it switch off to the motor and does nothing. We know it's not the lid switch - it checks out ok I did take the cover off of the washing machine and checked the coupling and it is in great shape. Does anyone know what is wrong? We have moved the clothes to a sink nearby but the water is still in the machine - what should we do to get this going again? Thanks Ads By Google Related Models |

See if the pump turns freely.

Just and update for you - thanks for having me check the pump to see if it would spin - I finally found something big enough to fit in there to try and make it spin - the water pump would NOT spin.
Sooo... I took the time to take all the water out of the machine by hand and then remove the water pump to get it ready to replace. Once I had it removed I saw inside the pump where one of my daughters pink socks had wedged itself inside the pump and jammed it up. After much pulling and prying I was finally able to wiggle it free - put the pump back on and everything is working as before! Thanks so much for your help! |
