Hi there I am having some issues with my Kenmore 90 Series.

I did a search but not finding my exact problem.

So what is happening is sometimes it does not want to spin, the motor just hums and the water pumps. Annnd sometimes it starts spinning but at the same time it is trying to agitate, which results in it getting hot and tripping a thermal shut-off.

I have taken it all apart and everything seems fine, I took the clutch apart and cleaned it. The pads are a little wore but not bad I thought.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Patrick

This sounds very much like your transmission is bad. Operate it with the cabinet off and by pass the lid switch and see what is happening with the clutch housing when it is trying to spin. If it is not moving then the transmission is the likely culprit.
