Maytag agitating in one directions quicky and leaking water

Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello, my parents sent me to the interent

Their washing maching is filling up but agitating too fast, going in one direction only and spilling water over the top.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!
