I have a Maytag washer model A612S that does not agitate. It will fill, spin and empty the water but does not agitate at all. I checked the belts, and although worn, they were still intact. With the water turned off, belts removed, and the washer set to a wash cycle, I am able to turn the main pulley by hand in both directions. If I fill the washer with water, and with the belts in place, the motor will turn the pump pulley and belt fine. The main drive belt does not turn the main pulley in the wash cycle it just sits and rubs against the motor pulley. The main drive pulley does engage in the spin cycle and pumps out the water. Any suggestions or past experience regarding this problem would be a big help.
