I have search previous posts, and have tried some of the suggestions with no success. If I missed something I apologize . . . it is an older whirlpool duet washer (maybe 10 yrs old). Just started banging in the last week - thought kids overloaded or loaded uneven at first - but this is not the case. I removed the back panel and rotated the belt wheel with washer unloaded - the drum banged even at the slowest of rpm's. I do not believe it is the struts as I supported the drum as I spun the wheel. Any ideas? If easy fix, I can handle, otherwise - I am looking for advice on whether to pay for repair or replace.

I appreciate any help. Thanks

Sometimes the struts can be the problem but you have to have it running to see if they are bad. Operate it with the back panel off and observe it and see if you can determine the problem.
