My Maytag top load washer will not spin fast enough to get all the water out of the clothes. It DOES evacuate all the water from the tub, but does not kick up to the high speed spin. It has a single belt. What are the possible problems, and how do i determine the solution? Thank you!

Fixing spin problems on these models starts with this part kit here.

Part number: AP4009132
Part number: AP4009132

Instructions are included and I strongly advise you have a helper, you will be much happier with one, although the helper may not be all that happy.

Outstanding - thank you very much. I will try this part and probably a new belt while I'm at it.

Again thanks

cool, is that the pulley for hte transmission shaft? I have a similar issue with an MAVT236AWW, that pully "feels " good when I inspected it nothing felt loose or moving with it. What does this do, is this the clutch assembly (of sorts)? Also, could a defective pump produce the same results as we are seeing?

sorry for all the questions, just trying to make an informed decision about parts purchase

Leo

That is the transmission pulley and yes the pulley should turn freely and no it is not the clutch.

This device rides up and releases the brakes so the machine can spin.

If you buy the part from this site and it does not fix the problem you can return it, see the returns policy for details and conditions.

good luck
