Default Washer wont spin
Model Number: 41741042000   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 5 - 10 years

My Kenmore 417.41042000 is not properly spinning.
I started going through the diagnostic test but didnt make it past step one. Once I took the belt off the motor will indeed start to spin during the cycle. No noise but (dont try this at home...) with a rag in my hand I can stop the motor. I turns freely as does the drum. I have no growling noises belt looks good, turns freely ..etc

Any suggestions?

Well with the switch going through normal cycle it does not does not spin at all when it is loaded. I have to say that my symptoms seem to be intermediate after some fidgetting around I put the belt back on and set it to the spin cycle and got it to work..once. It spun up to normal speed and finished the spin cycle. But when I just have it running through the normal cycle it does not seem to have enough juice to turn the drum over. We tried several loads, and several times with it empty but it just sits throughout the cycle. I don't what I did different that time I got it to spin when setting it diretly to spin but i was not able to repeat it. Possible bad speed control board?

Most likely the problem is a bad speed control board.

- The part number for the speed control board is AP3967975

Good luck.
Gene.

New speed control board came today. New part...same problem. I cant get the washer to spin at any point on the timer, and I have a new speed control board. Is there something else besides the motor that could be causing this now?
