When I start the wash cycle I set the water level, no matter what level I choose it always fills the tub about 3/4's full. What is cause, how hard for self-repair?

Make sure the air tube (#2 on the diagram) is clean from the tub to the water level switch inside the control panel.

If there is nothing wrong, the water level switch has to be replaced. Unfortunately this part is no longer available.
