Model Number: MVWC6ESWW1 Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
Washer fills with water than startes to agitate. After a few seconds motor gets hot and stops (thermal switch on motor opens) when thermal switch cools down motor runs again for a few more seconds then repeats over and over.

I would disassemble the washer and remove the motor, but leave the wire harness connected to the motor so I could run the motor by itself.
If it still trips the thermal overload then I would replace the motor. Other wise if the motor runs fine then something that the motor drives is turning hard or binding.
