I am working on a Frigidaire Stackable W/D. Would someone please give me instructions as to removing the tub to access the seal? I am mechanically inclined and cannot afford to hire someone for this repair. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi FDAR

There is a trick to this, mainly you have to release the whole tub assembly and slide it forward to get to everything. After that, changing it out is a piece of cake (well almost)

Here is the service manual which will show you how to do that.

Good luck, let us know if you have any difficulty

Thank you so much for the repair manual. Well I changed out the tub seal and all went well except now I have a squeeling noise when the washer is in the spin cycle. I ran the washer through a complete cycle and it worked great with no leaks, but once the spin cycle had run for about 2 minutes it began making a loud squeeling noise. To the best of my knowledge the noise sounds as if it is above the transmission. Is there a way to better pinpoint the noise? If the noise is in this area, what should I check for? Thank you again for your help.

Well, now that you know how to take out the basket the easy way I suggest you remove it and the trunion and see if the seal is in correctly into the metal ring, and make sure nothing is rubbing the wrong way (that sounds like the cause of your noise)

Hard to diagnose a noise, but a lot of times just taking it apart and putting it back together will fix whatever was too tight or not inserted properly.

Good luck, glad you got your leak fixed and hope this helps in fixing the noise.
