Odds are it is the lid switch. Cost me $79.95 to find out.

I couldn’t find any lid sdwitch to check, so I took the front off.
Belt and everything looked GREAT. But I still could not see
Any “lid switch”. Water level guage looked ok. So I called GE.

Sevice man came out and said “The lid switch needs resetting”.
I said “What lid switch? I don’t see any”. He said “It’s there –
It is MAGNETIC”.

He said to reset the switch, UNPLUG the washer for a full minute.
Then replug. WAIT. In 10 to 20 sec you will hear a click. When you do,
Raise and lower the lid at least FIVE TIMES. The switch will reset.

And he showed me that it worked! No parts needed!!
