The washer does not finish cycle,it fells up with water then it hums. I took the belt off and I can hold the main motor with my hand when my wife turns it on. the motor had a little smoke come out of it. smells like it did when we had the 1st sign of problems. I bought a trimmer and nothing changed. I think I need a new motor ?

It does sound like the motor is fried. Depending upon the age and condition of the machine you may want to think about a new one.
