Model Number: 110229242 Brand: Kenmore Age: More than 10 years
So I am attemping to remove the Agitator on our Kenmore. After Reomving the Fabric Softener Dispensor and the Dust Cap and Seal I expected to find a hex bolt thatr I could remove with a 7/16 socket. Looking down inside the top of the Agitator cavity I could only see the end of what looked like a threaded stud. It did not appear to be a bolt with the head broken off. (which was my first thought). Is there another type of removal process for this model of washer?
I tried to tug upward (pretty hard) on the agitator in case it really was a broken agitator mounting bolt. The top of the agitator did move upward a small amount before I hit the mechanical limit. Please tell me if this is a unique model. Ads By Google Related Models Last edited by cutthroattrout1 : 01-04-2012 at 02:29 AM. |

Day two now. I called a local appliance repair shop to get my answer. Under the dust cover there was a 1/2 inch square feature that was just as deep. It is designed to accept a 1/2 in drive extension without a socket. After loosening this part that has spring under it, I was able to remove this part and then the top half of the agitator. That exposed a hex nut stud that I was able to remove with a 14mm deep well socket.
Thanks for the reply richappy. I did need some additional help to get deep enough to apply your comment. |
