Model Number: 110.4650 2700 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
Hi,
My Kenmore HE2 washer stopped working midcycle yesterday. I had washed a few backpacks, and believe they had hidden cardboard bottoms which disintegrated and may have clogged the filter. I have removed the bottom and the drain pump filter and washer drained immediately. I ran a rinse / spin / drain cycle, however, and again the washer refused to drain. Again, I removed the drain filter and the tub drained immediately. So might the problem be with the drain pump itself? I did notice it making a bit of noise, but I'm not sure if that was unusual, since I'm not often in the basement during the wash cycle. There is no burning or electrical smell that goes along with an overheated pump. I'd like to try checking the pump before calling someone, but that seems far more complicated than removing the filter. Thanks, Vicki Ads By Google Related Models |

It sounds very much like the pump is the problem, so I would go ahead and replace it.
If you are comfortable with jumper wires you could disconnect the power to the machine and see if the pump operates when you jumper it with current. Use the wiring diagram as a guide.
