My agitator is inconsistent. I fill the tub with water, the timer advances, and usually does not agitate. Occassionally the agitator kicks on, usually before the drain/spin cycle, which works fine behond that point. At first this pattern was noticed on the Regular Cycle, and the Permanent Press cycle worked okay. Now it seems to occur on all cycles, including the Quick wash cycle. Do you think I need to replace the timer dial (AP4026151)?

Hi Drmanny

Given that there appears to be no mechanical problem with your washer the timer is the logical part to replace.

Of course, the timer is in that price range where you start to think about whether or not it makes more sense to replace the washer, given the age of your machine.

Good luck, let us know what you do and if a new timer fixes your problem.

;) I have reached the same conclusion. However, I will try to open up the timer and poke around to see if I can find the specific component problem. The electrical schematic provides a nice map of the circuitry. I may be able to replace a blown resistor/capacitor or similar part. I am hoping that the problem is with a wire connection-- you wouldn't happen to know the likely cause given the scenario described? Nevertheless, thanks much for your feedback!:)

Hi

Look for loose or burned contacts, loose wires or things like that. Most times the internal components have just failed, but it is a very good idea to try and find the problem like you are doing.

Good luck, let us know what you find out.
