i have a fridgidaire top load washer that fills up with water then agitates but loses water so will stop and fill back up to normal water level through out the cycle. my washer has been running for the last 45 minutes and has only gone from cycle 12 to cycle 8 because it keeps stopping to refill. also when i open the lid i can visually see the water level going down. do you know what might be causing this?

Check the hose that goes into the drain pipe. This can happen when a siphon is created either because the hose is pushed down too far into the drain, or the pipe is sealed off so that air cannot get into the drain pipe.
