Do an internet search of "appliance age" or similar term. You will find sites that ask for your model number and serial number and after you input it the site will tell you the date of manufacture.

You can also find code explanations for most major brands. The serial number will contain letters or numbers that tell the manufacture date. You just match up the letters in the serial number with the code.
