I just purchased a used but slighty used Whirlpool washer. When I connected the washer, there is a slight chance at first I had not turned the water supply on, but no sure.

When I try to start a load, I turn on power, set the cycle type, and hit start.
The unit sensing light comes on and the lid locks
a few seconds later, I hear a thump sound like the motor is not kicking in.

I have reset the washer several times by disconnecting the power and making sure water and drain are on and working.

No codes appear.

Any ideas?

Depone,
Try this first,
Raise the washer top, use a putty knife and find the two clips between the front panel and the washer top, press in on the clip and raise the corner at the same time, on each side. Once the top is up, you should find the technical data sheet in an envelope taped to the inside of the cabinet front panel. You can also remove the tub cover and check for a small article stuck between the tubs and can run the diagnostic codes and operation test mode in the tech data information, so we'll have a better idea of the possible issues.

Thanks and Good Luck,
:) :) :)
