my washer will wash fine but when it goes into spin or rinse cycle my lights in the wash room dim and it makes a loud humming sound ?

Sounds like your brakes are hanging up, causing the motor to draw too much current, resulting in your lights dimming.

To check this out, take off the cabinet and the water pump and the motor. Try to turn the coupling on the transmission in a clockwise direction and see if it is easy to do and you hear the brakes release.

If it is difficult, your problem may have to be solved by a new brake tube assembly.

unpluged pump and transmission jumped lid switch could the timer be out of it ,is their a way to test it?

I would try what I suggested earlier, take off the motor and try to turn the tranny in a clockwise direction and see what you get.

If it is ok, put everything back, but leave the cabinet, by-pass the lid switch and see if you can hear where the problem is coming from.

It's posible, but not likely the timer is your problem, but let's see what you come back with.
