Model Number: 110 42922 200 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
Recently my washer is making a clack clack clack noise when in the high speed spin mode. It's very quiet otherwise. The frequency of clacking is not nearly as high as the RPM (I think RPM is like 1200 or so?) but the noise is about 5 or so clacks per second. It seems to be about the same frequency as the vibration of the drum so maybe a piston or something? It really sounds like something smacking around inside but I cannot isolate where it's coming from.
I'm not thinking bearings since it just doesn't sound like a whining or turbine like sound. Any ideas? Thanks, Eric Related Models |

Hi Nowhere
If you follow this Forum you will notice that electrical and mechanical issues get faster responses than noise issues. This is because the way we start to diagnose a noise issue is to remove some cabinet pieces and listen to it, and well, we cannot do that in a Forum can we? I suggest you remove the top and back, and inspect the support springs and other components of the machine. If you do not find anything obvious, try to operate the machine with the back off and listen to see if you can isolate the noise. Good luck, let us know what you find out.
