Default Kenmore Front Loader Washer
Model Number: 417.44082400   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 1 - 5 years

I have had this Front Loader washer since June of 2005. I haven't really had any problems with it until now. Just before Christmas it threw a fit and ran through the whole cycle until the last minute. It would just hang up at 1 minute left on the display and wouldn't go any further. I unplugged the washer and left it while we were out of town for a few days. I came back and plugged it back in and problem is still there. I ran the drain/spin cycle on the machine and nothing happens, it just runs through the timer and stops at 1 minute. I can hear it click at the times it would normally spin, but no spinning. I opened the back and the belt is in good shape and is still on the pulleys. I can spin the drum freely and I didn't see any obstructions. The repairman is coming out on Jan 8th and the unit is still under warranty until June 2008. Is there anything I should do to work on it myself or will it all be covered under warranty. I am fairly mechanically inclined and don't mind fixing it myself.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Look under your front panel for the diagnostic aid. Basically, the spin is controlled by the timer, door switch and soap dispenser, probably your door switch is bad.
There is a test on the door switch using a meter, just test.

Default Fixed

I opened the washer up and found that one of the plugs on the control board in the bottom of the machine (I assume the motor control board) had wiggled its way off of the board. I plugged it back in and so far so good. I found it was flashing an E5E error which is the communication code. The plug that had come loose was the smaller plug with 4 or 5 wires on it toward the back of the machine.

Thanks for the assistance.
