![]() Model Number: WWA8340G AL WH Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
![]() Have a 2 speed GE washer model WWA8340G AL WH over 20 yrs old. Works great til spin cycle. Over last 6 mos or so, spins less & less water out of clothes. Never gets into high speed anymore. I can wring water out of clothes. When problem first occurred, put load thru 2nd spin cycle and most water out. Then it was 3rd spin cycle, a 4th etc. Took some clothes out of washer, spun water out mostly w/ multiple cycles. Then took more clothes out to get same result. Now, no matter how many clothes I take out or spin cycles I put it thru, I can still wring water out of clothes. Not washing any more clothes in load than before this problem started, less in fact. Machine goes UHH when shuts off. Won't get into high speed even when put thru spin cycle w/ no clothes or water. Tried this on regular cycle. I don't see any water standing in the tub containing the clothes. Filter-Flo has been clogged and not collecting lint for several months. I've poked holes open 2X but they just clog up again. (We have hard water.) Cleaned it again over weekend, now collects lint again. Pump was taken apart today looking for anything (jewelry, lint, etc) causing a problem. Couldn't find anything. New belt installed and tightened as much as possible when problem first started. Didn't seem to make a difference. When worked properly, clothes would be stuck to drum side when spin cycle done; washer would go kinda thunk, thunk when shutting off; and couldn't wring any water out of clothes. I'm very happy w/ this washer and don't want a new one. Any ideas on the problem, cost & time to fix, etc? Thanks for your help! Related Models |

![]() I understand you are happy with the washer and don't want to replace it, but from what you have described as the environment you have gotten far more use and life out of this machine than most people, and given its age I really think it is time to let it go.
