Default Some water remains after cycle is complete
Model Number: MAH4000AAW   Brand: Maytag   Age: 5 - 10 years

After my washer completes any wash cycle, I can turn the drum and still hear water sloshing around inside. Does this mean I have a problem with my washer and if so does anyone have recommendations for fixing it?

Thanks,

Tracey in Arizona

Red face Mine too

I have a Kenmore Elite He3 with the same problem. My husband is considering trying drano since the drain port we can access is clean. Any suggestions as to whether I should let him?

Unless you can see water in the spinner, AND your clothes come out WET, what you're probably hearing when you rotate the spinner is the liquid inside the balance ring. It's there to counter vibration due to the imperfect balance of the spinning load. You may also check the operation of your pump. Sometimes it can be obstructed, preventing a full extraction of the water. I have found coins on the "flapper" check valve causing the problem.

Default Flapper check valve

How do you get a look at this part? I was able to feel around the outside and didn't notice anything unusual. But I didn't see a way to detach it to get a look.

You can access the pump from the rear panel. Once you remove the panel (four screws), you'll see the pump just to the left of the tub. Better be ready for quite a bit of water as you disconnect the hoses. If you have pinch-off pliers, they really come in handy. As an alternative, I grab a bunch of towels to keep the mess at a minimum.

So you access this from the rear. Is that for the kenmore Elite He3? I'm just asking because this thread was originally started for a Maytag and I have the kenmore.

I'm not quithe as familiar with the Kenmore horizontals, but I believe you can access the pump through the rear on these, as well.
