Roper washer has weak agitation, and when it goes to start the spin cycle it will just pump water and not spin. So we have to sit and watch it and when it doesn't spin lift the lid a time or two and close it then it will finally start into the spin cycle. It used to only happen once in awhile but is happening on a more frequent basis now. Any ideas what it could be would be greatly welcomed.

For the weak agitation, does the bottom section of the agitator agitate ok, just the top section bad?
For bad spin, does it only act up on one cycle or all?

Usually all the time it acts up, but sometimes the last spin cycle will run on its own. If it doesnt it will just sit there and the motor just runs and have to reset spin cycle manually with the timer.
Bottom agitator works well upper part seems to be lacking muscle.

You have a neutral drain washer tranny. The timer is supposed to interrupt power briefly so the tranny clutch can engage. Watch it carefully for the duration of spin, when timer starts the motor in spin, it will not spin until power is interrupted. If power to motor NEVER stops during spin period, you have a bad timer.
